Victory Day and State Flag Day Commemorated in Greece

A commemorative event dedicated to the Victory Day and the State Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in Thessaloniki. The event was jointly organized by the Qala Greece–Azerbaijan Friendship Society and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Hellenic Republic.

The event was attended by members of the Azerbaijani community residing in Thessaloniki, heads and representatives of diaspora organizations, as well as local residents.

Rashid Mammadov, Chairman of the Qala Greece–Azerbaijan Friendship Society, informed the participants about the significance of the event and spoke about the importance of Victory Day for Azerbaijan. He emphasized that this day is not merely a historic victory, but an enduring monument to the collective will of the Azerbaijani people, their devotion to the Motherland, and their national unity. He further noted that the heroic soldiers and officers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, by liberating the country's historic lands, restored not only Azerbaijan's territorial integrity but also its national pride.

In his address, Ambassador Arif Mammadov stated that, under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces achieved the historic Victory in 2020, as a result of which Azerbaijan's territorial integrity was restored, while historical justice and international law prevailed.

It was further emphasized that, following the full restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and state sovereignty, the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan is now in force throughout every part of the country's territory. Today, the national flag of Azerbaijan flies over every region of the Republic. It was also noted that, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is experiencing the brightest period in its history as a victorious, sovereign and strong state, while continuing to make active efforts towards ensuring regional stability and sustainable development.

The event concluded with a visit to the exhibition entitled "United Azerbaijan" (Bütöv Azərbaycan), after which the guests were offered an opportunity to sample traditional Azerbaijani cuisine.
